Direct Entry (DE) Stream:

• Purpose: For skilled workers who are applying directly for permanent residency, either from offshore or from onshore (if not eligible for the TRT stream).
• Key Requirement: Requires at least three years of full-time work experience in your nominated occupation at a skilled level
• Skills Assessment: A mandatory positive skills assessment from the relevant Australian assessing authority is required for your nominated occupation.
• Age Limit: Must generally be under 45 years of age at the time of application (with limited exemptions, similar to TRT).
• Occupation List: Your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list for the 186 visa (typically the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List - MLTSSL, or the Core Skills Occupation List - CSOL, depending on the current policy).
• English Language: Competent English (e.g., IELTS 6.0 in each band or equivalent) is required.
