This stream facilitates the temporary migration of skilled workers in a broad range of occupations identified as being in demand across various industries. It focuses on ensuring that businesses can access the talent they need to grow and operate effectively, contributing to Australia's economic strength.
Key Features :
- Occupation List: Must be on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL - 456 occupations).
- Employer Sponsored: Requires an approved Australian employer.
- Salary: Must meet/exceed TSMIT (AUD 76,515 from July 1, 2025) or market rate, whichever is higher.
- Experience: At least 12 months full-time equivalent work experience in the last 5 years.
- PR Pathway: Clear route to permanent residency (Subclass 186) after 2 years with any approved employer.
- Mobility: Can change employers with a 180-day grace period to find new sponsorship.
- Family: Can include partner and dependent children with work/study rights.
- Processing: Aims for quick processing (approx. 21 business days median).
- No Age Limit: No age limit for the 482 visa application itself.

- Employer Obligations: Sponsor must conduct Labour Market Testing (LMT) and pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy.
